ABOUT
Brain Spiker is the Angler Art of Thomas M. Schwabe based in San Pedro, California. Thomas had a vision to pull from his early childhood the imagery of Pacific Ocean fish, and once again put that to paper, combining an array of creativity, apparel, graphic design, digital illustration, and fine Art prints . Thomas resources his visually creative inspiration from visions that enter his imagination, and through his history of fishing from a young age. Growing up in Santa Monica, California, he began drawing Pacific Ocean fish at an early age filling his entire bedroom walls with drawings of fish done in colored ink pens.
Thomas was introduced to fishing by his Grandfather. His first time fishing was at the Imperial Beach Pier around the age of eight. The memory of his grandfather grabbing his fishing rods, tackle box, bait, and placing them in the car along with Thomas was forever seared into his mind with the joy, and excitement of what was to come that day. This was the beginning of a life long passion to go hooking up whether it was inshore, offshore, or fresh water fishing it was going to be a fun day. His love for the Ocean, and bodies of water have always caused him to wonder what kind of fish are lurking beneath the surface wherever he's at whether near the Sea, Lakes, Streams, or Rivers.
Thomas attended various art classes but was mostly self-taught. In 2008, he entered into the field of digital Illustration. Much of his work is now created digitally, utilizing a professional pen tablet. Thomas enjoys his free time fishing the local waters, and the Eastern Sierras with his Nephews, good friend, and business partner Darren Uyematsu. He has done print work for renowned fisheries biologist Bill Boyce, the Royal Polaris, Hooks Landing, and has created illustrations, business cards, flyers, art prints for non-profit organizations, and various small businesses.
